Italian Conference on Optics and Photonics (ICOP), 17-19 June, 2024, Florence, Italy

Researchers of SLAM-DAST project attended the 2024 edition of the Italian Conference on Optics and Photonics (ICOP 2024) in Potsdam, Germany, from the 17th to the 19th of June 2024. The authors presented two poster presentations on their works carried out within SLAM-DAST project on distributed acoustic sensing and on the effect of error propagation in the shape reconstruction of distributed shape sensing.

The Italian Conference on Optics and Photonics aims to bring together researchers from all over Italy and worldwide, networking and exchanging their research developments in the field of Optics and Photonics, in a stimulating and multidisciplinary forum. The Conference established itself as a high-level meeting in the areas of Nano and Quantum Sciences, Optical Communication Systems, Optical Imaging and Sensing, Laser and Nonlinear Optics, Applications of Photonic Technology and new Emerging Topics, featuring invited lectures, oral and poster sessions and workshops.

European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (EWSHM), 10-13 June, 2024, Potsdam, Germany

Researchers of SLAM-DAST project attended the 11th edition of the European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (EWSHM 2024) in Potsdam, Germany, from the 10th to the 13th of June 2024. The authors presented an oral presentations on their works carried out within SLAM-DAST project on the application of distributed strain sensing for shape sensing and the characterization of its feasibility as a crack detector for composite carbon fiber specimens in terms of probability of detection.

The goal of EWSHM is to present the latest advances in the field of structural health monitoring (SHM), and includes plenary talks from leading experts in the field reporting about their field of expertise in SHM or their request for monitoring in applications such as transportation vehicles, machinery, manufacturing plants or buildings, as well as academic research and technology exhibitions.

Researchers of SLAM-DAST project attended the 3rd edition of the Latin American Workshop on Optical Fiber Sensors (LAWOFS 2024) in Campinas, Brazil, from the 20th to the 22nd of May 2024. The authors presented two oral presentations on their works carried out within SLAM-DAST project on distributed acoustic sensing and on the effect of error propagation in the shape reconstruction of distributed shape sensing.

The Latin American Workshop on Optical Fiber Sensors (LAWOFS) organized by the Brazilian Society for Microwave and Optoelectronics (SBMO) is a renowned event uniting the scientific community involved with optical fiber sensor design and applications. LAWOFS 2024 focused on intense interaction among Ibero-American participants to encourage purposeful debate on new concepts, technologies, and applications of photonic sensing, enhancing international collaborations in R&D projects.

PhotonIcs and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS), 21-25 April, 2024, Chengdu, China

Researchers of SLAM-DAST project attended the 2024 edition of the PhotonIcs and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS 2024) in Chengdu, China, from the 21st to the 25th of April 2024. The authors presented two oral presentations on their works carried out within SLAM-DAST project on distributed acoustic sensing and simulations on the effect of core failure in distributed shape sensing accuracy.

PIERS: PhotonIcs and Electromagnetics Research Symposium, also known as Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium, provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent advances in the modern development of electromagnetics, photonics and exciting applications. PIERS has become a major symposium in the area related to electromagnetics. PIER Journals are a family of journals supported by the proceeds of PIERS meetings.

28th International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS 28), November 20 – 24 2023, Hamamatsu, Japan

Researchers of SLAM-DAST project will attend the 28th International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS) which will take place in Hamamatsu, from the 20th to the 24th of November 2023. The authors will present their activities on SLAM-DAST sensor R&D with 2 poster on the development of distributed acoustic sensors and relationship between strain transfer and probability of detection.

The International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS), established in 1983, is acknowledged as the world’s leading conference on all topics related to photonic sensing technologies. OFS provides a forum for reporting and exchanging ideas on the latest advances in research and development on fiber-optic and photonic sensing. Researchers of SLAM-DAST project will attend the 2023 edition of the European Workshop on Optical Fiber Sensors (EWOFS) which will take place in Mons, Belgium, from the 23rd to the 26th of May 2023. The authors will present their activity on SLAM-DAST sensor R&D with a poster on the development of distributed acoustic sensors.

EWOFS is one of the major international events for the optical fiber sensors community and is the right place to learn about the recent academic and industrial advances on the technology.

The workshop is organized with plenary sessions of invited speakers presenting the state-of-art of their specific domain and thematic poster sessions for all the contributed papers. Each poster session is followed by small group discussions with the purpose to analyse and comment the contributions. The conclusion of each group is then presented to all the attendees. The purpose of this format is to optimize efficient and fruitful discussions and interactions within the optical fiber sensing community.
